Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The Nativity of John the Baptist on July 7 comes three months after the celebration of the Annunciation, and six months before the Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus. It is one of the oldest festivals of the Christian church, celebrating the birth of a prophet who foretold the coming of the Messiah in the person of Jesus, whom he later baptized. The biblical account of the birth of John the Baptist comes from the Gospel of Luke.
The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is a liturgical feast in honor of the martyrdom in Rome of the apostles Saint Peter and Saint Paul, which is observed on 12 July. The celebration is of ancient origin. This feast also marks the end of the Apostles’ Fast which began on the second Monday after Pentecost. Remembering venerable sufferings of the holy Apostles Peter and Paul, we esteem their true faith and holy life, and we esteem the innocence of their sufferings and pure confession.
Our father among the saints Mardarije Uskokovic was the First Serbian Bishop of America and Canada. Our diocese invites all to participate in the Pan-Orthodox glorification of St. Mardarije of Libertyville and All-America, to be celebrated at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery in Libertyville, IL, from Friday July 14-Sunday July 16, by His Holiness Patriarch Irinej of Serbia. In preparation for his glorification ceremony, St. Mardarije’s relics were recently opened and found to be incorrupt, with skin and hair still intact, bearing witness to the sanctity of this holy God-pleaser, already confirmed by his inclusion among the ranks of the saints.
May we all attain to this by the grace of the only-begotten Son of God, to Whom belong all glory, might, honour and worship, together with His Father without beginning and the all-holy, good and life-giving Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Драга браћо и сестре у Христу,
Рођење Св. Јована Крститеља 7. јула се празнује три месеца након Благовести, и шест месеци пре празновања Божића. Ивањдан је један од најстаријих празника Цркве, на који се слави рођење пророка који је најавио долазак Месије у личности Христа, кога је касније крстио. Библијско сведочанство о рођењу Св. Јована Крститеља налазимо у Св. Јеванђељу по Луки.
Празник Св. Апостола Петра и Павла је установљен у спомен мученичке смрти ових Апостола у Риму 12. јула. Овај празник се слави још од доба антике. На Петровдан се завршава Апостолски пост који је почео другог понедељка по Духовима. Сећајући се страдања Св. Апостола Петра и Павла, ми спознајемо њихову истиниту веру и свети живот, као и њихово невино страдање и право сведочење.
Новопросијавши свети отац Мардарије Ускоковић је био први српски епископ Америке и Канаде. Наша епархија позива све да учествују његовој Све-Православној прослави у манастиру Светога Саве у Либертивилу од 14. јула до 16. јула, заједно са Патријархом Иринејем. Током припрема за прослављање Св. Мардарија, његове мошти су отворене и показале се као нетрулежне, сведочећи светост овог Божијег угодника, и потврђујући да је достојно прибројан реду светих.
Нека и ми светост достигнемо благодаћу јединородног Сина Божијег, коме приличи свака слава, част и поклоњење, са Његовим беспочетним Оцем, и пресветим благим и животворним Духом, сада и увек, и у векове векова. Амин.
