The disciples, laboring against the turbulent sea, are saved by Jesus (Mt 14, 22-34). Christ can walk on the waters because He made the waters, He is the Creating Hand of God the Father; By Him ‘all things were made’. And as soon as He enters the boat, the wind calms. The flimsy craft of human undertakings, ‘tossed with waves’, becomes with Christ the unsinkable Ark of Salvation, the Church of Which Christ is the Head. And with Christ we all, like Peter, are saved and confess Him: ‘Of a truth Thou art the Son of God’.
‘Prayer and fasting’ is how Christ casts the demon out of the young man (Mt 17, 14-23). The demon came into possession of the young man through unbelief, faithlessness. It is clear that because of the illness of the son, the father has been brought to know humility. St Theophan the Recluse, wrote: ‘Where there is no prayer and fasting, there are the demons’. We could say therefore that much of the modern world has become the dwelling-place of demons, for the modern world mocks prayer and fasting. It seems that each day that passes brings us news of some new instability, some new disaster and misfortune. Where there is no Christ, there is no Wisdom and where there is no Wisdom, there is neither love, nor hope, nor faith. On the other hand, where there is faith, there is prayer and fasting, and there the demons cannot go.
With the parable of the unmerciful servant, Christ warns that His heavenly Father will give those who do not forgive the same treatment as that given to the unmerciful servant (Mt 18, 23-35). The Father’s forgiveness, already given, will be withdrawn at the final judgement for those who have not imitated his forgiveness by their own. This is why, in the Prayer that the Lord gave us, we pray: ‘Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us’.
The young man asked Christ what it is necessary to do in order to have eternal life (Mt 19, 16-26). Our Lord sums up commandments, by giving only two commandments: Love God and love thy neighbor as thyself. However, our Lord tells him that there is a higher way to salvation, a way to become perfect. This is for him to give away all his wealth. In the history of the Church and in the Lives of the Saints, we can often read of many people who came into great wealth, but they did not allow themselves to become possessed of their wealth. God calls the wealthy not to be possessors, but rather distributors, of wealth.
All is possible if there is faith. Faith moves mountains.

Христос је спасао своје ученике, који су се борили са узбурканим морем (Мт 14, 22-34). Христос хода по води, јер је Он воду створио. Он је стваралачка рука Бога Оца, који је творац неба и земље. Бура се стишава када Он ступа на лађу. Несигуран брод под кормилом људи, кога витла бура, са Христом постаје непотопива лађа спасења, односно Црква којој је глава Христос. Баш као и Апостол Петар, будући да нас Христос спасава, и ми Га исповедамо речима: „ Ваистину си ти Син Божији“.
Христос изгони демона из младића указујући на значај поста и молитве (Мт 17, 14-23). Демон је запосео младића због неверовања или слабе вере. Очигледно је да је због болести свога сина, његов отац постао понизан. Св. Теофан Затворник каже: „Где нема поста и молитве, ту има демона.“ Слободно можемо рећи да је модеран свет постао станиште демона, јер савремено друштво исмева молитву и пост. Изгледа да због тога свакодневно у вестима сазнајемо о нестабилности, некој новој непогоди или несрећи. Где нема Христа, ту нема Мудрости. Где нема Мудрости, ту нема љубави, наде и вере. Са друге стране, где има вере, ту има има молитве и поста, и за демоне нема места.
Причом о немилосрдном слузи (Мт 18, 23-35), Христос нам казује се Његов Отац небески односи према онима који не праштају, исто као и према поменутом немилосрдном слузи. Опроштај који нам је Отац небески даровао, може да буде повучен на последњем суду, онима који се нису уподобили његовој спремности да опрости. Због тога се у Господњој молитви каже: „Опрости нам дугове наше, као што и ми опраштамо дужницима својим.“
Један младић је питао Христа шта је потребно да задобије вечни живот (Мт 19, 16-26). Господ му је сажео све заповести, тако што му је дао само две: „Воли Бога и воли ближње као себе самог“. Господ му је указао на један још узвишенији пут спасења, који води у вечни живот. Потребно је да разда сву своју имовину. У историји Цркве и житијима светих налазимо много људи који су били богати, али нису дозволили себи да их погатство запоседне. Бог позива богате да не буду поседници, већ они који имовину раздељују.
Све је могуће где има вере. Вера помера планине.
